Housing process for current Penn State students

Lottery Process for University Park

To participate in University Park Lottery processes, you must have accepted a University Park regular Housing Contract. Lotteries are for suites and single rooms.

Note: Although not part of the Lottery process, some students may also place their names on the Waitlist for Eastview Terrace or Nittany Apartments. The assignments at Eastview Terrace and Nittany Apartments will take precedence over all Lottery assignments. If you receive notice of winning a Lottery, it is up to you to remove your name from the Eastview Terrace or Nittany Apartments Waitlists if you no longer wish to be kept active due to your Lottery status.

Suites
Two-, three-, and four-person suites (each housing students of the same gender) are available. Each suite has a private bathroom. A limited number of suites are located in the following residence areas: Pollock Halls, South Halls, East Halls, North Halls, and Nittany Hall.

Single Rooms
Single rooms are in standard residence halls and have one person in a room. A bathroom is shared with other residents on the floor. Single rooms are located in three residence areas: Pollock Halls, West Halls, and South Halls.

Lottery Process Information
Once your name is drawn in a Lottery and you are assigned to a room, you are obligated to accept that assignment and the associated housing rate change.

You should only enter a Lottery if you are sure you are willing to accept the assignment to that type of room and the associated housing rate change. Once the assignment process begins, you cannot withdraw your name or change your preference back to a traditional residence hall contract.

Names will continue to be drawn as vacancies occur. If you wish to remove your name from a Lottery after the modification deadline, please contact the Assignment Office to see if that option is still available to you.

The Lotteries will be drawn in the following order:

1. Suites (including Nittany Suites and North Suites)
2. Singles

Steps for Submitting a Lottery Request:
Step 1: After accepting a Housing Contract, click on the LOTTERY button.
Step 2: Choose the Lottery you wish to enter.
Step 3: Read and agree to the Terms, Conditions, and Regulations.
Step 4: Enter your Lottery Request by clicking on the CHECK box and entering your preferences.
