Housing process for current Penn State students
1. How do I request to live with more than one roommate in an apartment or suite at University Park during the Contract Request process?
If you are interested in living in an apartment or suite with three friends, you need to split up into two groups. When submitting a contract request, you will be able to indicate a "potential roommate". Potential roommates must be mutual; split up so person #1 and person #2 are listing each other; person #3 and person #4 are listing each other. If a group of 4 does not split up and make mutual requests (for example, person #1 requests #2, #2 requests #3, #3 requests #4, and #4 requests #1) – this will reduce the likelihood of an offer being made. With having mutual requests, if person #1 receives an offer, #2 will also receive one (and vice versa). There is no guarantee that both groups will receive an offer.
When an offer is made and accepted, you will be assigned a time to make a room selection online. If all four receive and accept an offer, then you can pair up again to select a room. Look for an apartment or suite where four spaces are available. The 1st pair will make a selection during their time, and then the 2nd pair can assign to the space during their time.
Please note – there is a chance that one pair may not receive an offer during the process. If this occurs, the first pair will need to decide whether to accept the offer and continue to reside in the apartment or suite. Contracts are legally binding, so once accepted, you will not be able to cancel to move off campus. |

2. What happens if I submit a request for more than contract type, specifically Nittany, Eastview, Singles or Suites at University Park?
The first round of offers for Nittany, Eastview, Singles, and Suites will be made by 5:00 p.m. on December 1. Nittany, Eastview, and Singles will expire at noon on December 5. However, offers for Suites will expire at noon on December 6. This overlap allows students who receive a Suite offer, but have a higher interest in Nittany, Eastview, or a Single, the opportunity to see if they receive a 2nd round for Nittany, Eastview, or a Single before the Suite offer expires. |

3. How do I request a triple or a quad at University Park?
There are very few triples or quads available for upper-class students, most are located in first-year student space. You must submit a request for a Regular Residence Hall. For groups of 3, person #1 and #2 should request each other; person #3 can either submit a request individually, or find another person to pair up with.
If you receive and accept a Regular Residence Hall Contract, you can indicate which room type you are interested in, as well as your roommate requests. To be considered for this space, all students must have an accepted contract. Each student must indicate the same building and room type preferences and roommate requests so that everything is mutual and matches on all students' contracts (so for a triple, all 3 must list the same building, room type, and roommates; for a quad, all 4 must list everything the same).

8. Are room assignments made in the order that contracts are submitted?

9. Am I guaranteed my roommate request?
No. Roommate requests cannot be guaranteed. However, every attempt will be made to assign students together if they request one another. At University Park, if one student accepts a reserved group contract and the preferred roommate is not a member of that group, often times the roommate cannot be pulled in. |

12. I am considering a Change of Campus to another Penn State campus. Should I participate in the contract process?
